My New Favorite Book Reviewer

Where do you go to find book recommendations and reviews? Usually I rely on friends, my local church staff, and a small handful of online groups whose opinions I generally trust.

This summer a writer friend of mine asked for feedback about a new section of her website where she writes books reviews – and I was instantly hooked. Amber labels her section “book reviews”, but it is so much more than that. Yes she gives you a summary of the book, but she also includes the table of contents, quick facts about the book (like how long it is and how difficult it is to read), and she dives into the topic on her own – adding additional perspective, Scripture, and whether the book is actually worth our time (even if it’s a popular book).

Some of the books she has recently reviewed include “Redeeming Your Time“, “Help for the Hungry Soul” and “Raising Confident Kids in a Confusing World“.

I love how Amber adds to the book discussion – making it feel like we are in a mini book club with her. She also loves the Lord and seeks to help us parse through the crowded online book shelves to find books that are truly going to make a difference in our lives.

So, this is my shameless plug for my friend! If you want another place to gather book suggestions, consider checking out her site!
