Resource for Navigating Hard Conversations With Young Children

This week is a little bit different because I am over at RisenMotherhood talking about having hard conversations with our young children.

If you’ve ever wondered how to navigate your child’s questions about death and their loved ones – I encourage you to read the article here.

I wish I could offer you a script for these conversations… but life isn’t quite that straight forward, is it?

So instead, it’s encouragement for you: that you have access to the resources you need, it’s ok to ask for help, and it’s normal to not have all the answers.

On a more personal note – writing this article was a gift from the Lord to my weary heart. Throughout our family’s many trials, God has consistently reminded me of his promises in 2 Corinthians 1:3-7.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer.

Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

2 Corinthians 1:3-7
  1. That God would comfort us; and
  2. That God would allow us the joy of comforting others, with the comfort we have received.

Being able to write this article and offer hope and encouragement to the next momma walking through hard conversations with her kids, is one small example of God fulfilling these promises to me.

If you are in need of God’s comfort – go to him and ask him for it. He has made these promises to us, and he delights in us holding him to his word.

May the God of all comfort – comfort your weary heart this week!

I love hearing from you!
